2013 Annual Gala & Art Auction
About the Auction
Please note new auction items are added as information becomes available.
Proxy Bidding Information
When placing a proxy bid, enter your maximum bid amount. This amount should reflect the bid increment for a given auction item. Upon bidding, an automatic receipt will be emailed. Should this be your first bid on a 2013 auction item, someone from the Curatorial Department will call you for credit card information to secure your bid. Please note, no charges will be made to your credit card at this time. If you are the winning bidder, you will have the option of paying for your purchase(s) using a different payment method.
Online bidding for auction items closes on Thursday, February 28 at 5PM CST, 2013. If you are outbid before proxy bidding closes, you will receive an email notification. You will have the opportunity to submit another bid should you choose and if it is prior to 5PM CST on Thursday, February 28.
If your bid is the winning bid, you will be notified by end of day Tuesday, March 5.
Art Auction Rules
By bidding in the live or silent auction, bidders agree to all auction rules. Estimate of retail values and descriptions of items have been made based on information provided by donors. All items are sold “as is” subject to the conditions and restrictions stipulated by the donors.
All experiences sold at the auction shall be undertaken at the sole risk of the purchaser. The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is not and will not be liable in any way for injury, loss or damage to any person or property, however caused or arising.
SILENT AUCTION
On the evening of the gala, March 1, the silent auction will begin at 7PM and lots will be closed starting at 10:45PM. The museum will announce the winners that evening.
Bidders must follow the guidelines on Silent Auction bid sheets. Bids that do not match specifications for bidding increments will be disqualified. All starting bids must be greater than or equal to the minimum bid stated on the bid sheet. Each succeeding bid must exceed the required increment as shown on the bid sheet and be in round dollar amounts.
If the successful bidder has left the premises, he/she will be notified by Tuesday, March 5. If you would like to check on the status of your bids, you may call Nancy O’Connor, Curatorial Assistant, at 713-284-8256, after 1 PM Monday, March 4. If the bidder cannot be reached by 5PM Thursday, March 7, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston will contact the next highest bidder.
LIVE AUCTION
The live auction will begin at or near 9PM on the evening of the gala, March 1.
The highest bidder for any item will be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between the Live Auction bidders, the auctioneer will have the sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder, or to re-offer and resell the article in question.
Items must be fully paid before removal from the premises.
