The
Contemporary Arts Museum Houston presents a variety of educational
programs to bring students to contemporary art and contemporary
art to students.
Teachers
Tours
Teachers and school groups are welcome to visit the Museum
during regular Museum
hours.
Discussion and activity-based group
tours are available free of charge if
scheduled within ten days of
the visit. Teachers who plan self-guided tours should also
call 713-284-8274 to
confirm the exhibition schedule and to make sure that other
large groups are not pre-scheduled. This is very important
to the safety
of the
art as well as the enjoyment of your group’s visit.
Resource Kits
In conjunction with Brown Foundation Gallery exhibitions that
take place during the academic year, the Contemporary Arts
Museum Houston offers Educator
Resource Kits, which provide an introduction
to the
exhibition, slides, and lesson plans.

Students
Young Students
Younger students may visit the Museum with their parents
or within a school group tour. Please ask for a free Family
Guide and Factivity Kit at the information
desk for an introduction to topics presented in the current
exhibition. Also, be sure to visit the Museum on Houston
Chronicle Family Day,
programmed in conjunction with each major
exhibition.
Teens
Most of the Museum’s events for teenagers are programmed
by the Teen Council,
a group of thirty Houston-area high school teenagers
who work with the Museum staff to create peer programming,
including Second Fridays (a movie night for teens), Art All
Night (a lock-in
for high school students), and Teen Day. Check the calendar for upcoming events.
